I'm Bonnie Nilsen and I've been creating websites since the early days of the web back in 1995. That's 15 years of ever-increasing change in a field that is endlessly fascinating.
My first websites were John Shepherd Family, a personal genealogy site and Grandma's Graphics which still receives thousands of visitors every day.
How did I get here? Glad you asked.
I majored in Fine Arts/Photography in college and then worked for a publisher in New York for a few years. I went back to school when my daughters were teenagers, and desktop publishing was just getting started. That got me interested in computers. A few years later the world wide web took off and it was easy to bring all my design, photography and publishing skills into this new medium.
Besides creating websites I've been doing lots of other things that fall under the heading of New Media.
Print on Demand Products
Starting with CafePress, I took some of my lovely graphic images from my Grandmas's Graphics website (old media!), and adapted them for use on t-shirts, mugs, hats, notebooks, etc. I now have shops/products on CafePress, Printfection and Zazzle.
Want to promote your website? I can easily set up a store for customers to buy products with your logo.
Digital Signage
Portfolio of digital signage ads, which were created between 2004 and 2007.
There are thousands of digital screens out there. Would an eye-catching ad help to bring you new clients?
Second Life
While a lot of people still think of Second Life as a game, this virtual world is much more than that. I've had my own virtual home/office since 2007. I enjoy building and creating framed prints for my galleries, but am always looking for new areas to explore.
Could your business use a virtual office for meetings or a showroom to promote your reallife products or services?
My personal website is BonnieNilsen.com
